- Agri-Nutrients, Inc. buys only made in USA products. Qatar and Russia are the two major urea export countries and the cost is less.
- Agri-Nutrients, Inc. custom blends provide the exact analysis desired by the end user and fillers are required to balance the mix. Crushed limestone is most commonly used by most producers. Limestone weighs about 90 lbs. per cubic foot and provides little to no agronomic value.
- Agri-Nutrients, Inc. uses calcined shale that weighs about 45 lbs. per cubic foot. It is a porous material that can absorb three times its weight in water and will provide air to the rhizoshere after the moisture is consumed. The pH, of calcined shale is neutral while limestone is alkaline.
- When a customer desires a filler to use as a chemical carrier calcined shale is ideal. The heat of manufacture of calcined shale turns the granules to inert glass which eliminates chemical reaction.
- Calcined shale costs two to three times as much as limestone.
- Muriate of potash can be 62% or 60% material contains 2% clay; therefore Agri-Nutrients only sells 62% MOP or sulfate of potash that do not contain inert material.
Agri-Nutrients, Inc. is a commodity business, agriculture sets the base line. Value added products provide differential in pricing. However, the market is based on margin and tonnage. When our input cost of materials exceeds the cost of competition, we need to reassess our customer base. We can lower our pricing by using limestone filler and buying import material, which is against our values.
As a result of 50+ years in business our company can and does buy our products seasons in advance to buffer the market and not have to vary the pricing during short-term price fluctuations.
Our hope in this communication is to receive feedback from our customer base.
